Irene Erickson Elementary School was placed on lockdown Monday morning.
According to Tucson Unified School District spokeswoman Stefanie Boe, the lockdown lasted about 15 minutes due to police activity in the area.
The school is located at 6750 E. Stella Road and classes returned to normal after the lockdown in the 7 a.m. hour.
According to Sgt. Kimberly Bay, police found a boy with an air soft gun near the school. He was taken into custody just before 7:45 a.m.
