A Pima County Sheriff's Deputy was awarded the highest honor a law enforcement officer can get for his act of bravery.
Sergeant Brian Kunze was awarded the "Congressional Badge of Bravery" for his life-saving efforts to rescue a woman from a burning building in June 2016. During the incident, an armed man detonated an explosion inside the building by staging cans of gas and creating a natural gas leak. Kunze rushed into the home and carried the victim away from danger.
Congressman Raul Grijalva presented Kunze the award Friday at the Sheriff's Department Headquarters.
Kunze has been with the department for 22 years.
