TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The Tucson Police Department (TPD) is investigating a homicide at the Midtown Villas del Paraiso apartments, 2475 N. Haskell Dr.
Police say it happened on Thursday at 9 p.m. As officers arrived, they found 37-year-old Edgar Ramos near the entrance to one of the apartment buildings with gunshot wounds.
Ramos was pronounced dead on scene. Next of kin has been notified.
Officers identified and contacted involved persons at the scene and secured evidence.
According to the TPD, they believe Ramos had confronted another resident of the complex and pulled out a sharp-edged weapon.
The male resident pulled out a handgun and shot Ramos.
The resident, identified as a 29-year-old man, called 911 after the shooting and was contacted by detectives.
Investigation remains ongoing.

A man was shot in killed in Midtown Thursday night, according to information obtained from the Tucson Police Depatment (TPD).
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at just after 9 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Haskell Drive, west of the Grant and Alvernon intersection.
The body of an adult male was found at the scene. A person of interest has been detained, according to the TPD.
The investigation is ongoing.
