TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Tucson police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. at West Valencia Road on the I-19 overpass.
Officers say the car involved fled the scene and continued westbound on Valencia Road without stopping.
As officers arrived, all attempts to render aid to the pedestrian were made.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene.
The pedestrian was identified as 41-year-old Adriana Patricia Mada. Next of kin was notified.
According to the TPD, Mada was on the south side of the overpass, crossing from west to east. The car involved was going northbound, on the I-19 off-ramp, trying to turn left onto westbound Valencia Road.
Mada ran into the crosswalk when the car tried to turn with a green traffic signal.
The TPD said in a press release, "crossing against the traffic signal by the pedestrian is the known contributing factor, but the driver leaving the scene of a fatal collision is the focus of the investigation."
It is believed the suspect car is a dark-colored pickup truck.
Investigation remains on going.
