A deadly collision closed 12th Avenue and 44th Street Wednesday afternoon according to Sgt. Pete Dugan of Tucson Police.

21-year-old Robert Martinez was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says that a passerby noticed the vehicle crashed into a brick wall of a residence and called authorities just before noon.

Tucson Police say the car was headed northbound on 12th Avenue. As it approached 44th Street the car crossed over the southbound lanes and and ended up on the northwest corner of 12th and 44th. The car went through a chain link fence on a dirt lawn and hit the wall.

Dugan says they have received reports from witnesses who say they believe they saw the vehicle from earlier in the day before the call came in.

There are no obvious signs of foul play.

This is the ninth traffic death so far in 2016.

If anyone has any information they are asked to call 88-CRIME.
