UPDATE (5:25 p.m.)

An Arizona Highway Patrol official provided new details Tuesday afternoon regarding a school bus crash that shut down both directions of Interstate 10 in Marana.

According to authorities, approximately 40 people were on board the bus when it collided with a silver SUV in a two-vehicle crash. The driver of the SUV was arrested, though officials said charges would be announced at a later time.

Emergency responders transported three students and one adult to nearby medical centers for treatment. As a precaution, all remaining bus passengers were later taken for medical evaluation via another bus.

Further updates, including details on potential charges, are expected in the coming days.

Interstate 10 is closed in both directions at Tangerine Road (milepost 240) in Marana due to a crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Kingman Unified School District confirmed the bus was from their district, carrying Future Business Leaders of America students and chaperones.

Bart Graves from the Arizona Department of Public Safety said a school bus was involved. He said troopers are responding.

The bus is from Kingman Unified School District, and was carrying students and chaperones from Kingman High School and Lee Williams High School, according to communications from the school district.

According to the district communications, several students and a staff member are being taken for medical evaluation.

There is no estimated time to reopen, ADOT said.
