TUCSON, Ariz. - Pima County Department of Transportation provided layoff notices to 36 workers.

According to department director Ana Olivares, projects are winding down after voters rejected the $430 million construction package Prop. 463 in November.

Workers on projects tied to the Regional Transportation Authority and Highway User Revenue Bond Program were affected, according to a department memo verified by Olivares.

The memo cited the failure of the proposition as the reason for the layoffs. The county's projected future workload needs will be lower, the memo said.
