TUCSON, Ariz. — Parents across southern Arizona are getting emails about plans they should make in the case of a coronavirus outbreak here at home.
School Districts who sent home emails include TUSD, MUSD, Flowing Wells, and the Vail School District to name a few.
The email came from the Pima County Health Department saying in the event of a spread school closures are extremely unlikely, but possible.
They recommend being prepared with childcare, enough food, water and medical supplies for three days.
A school health aide at VSD says in the meantime the best policy is to educate her students about flu and cold virus prevention.
“We are doubling down just like we would with cold and flu. Washing your hands, covering your cough, hand sanitizer if you can’t wash your hands, keeping surfaces clean, keeping kids home if they are sick,” said Health Aide April Burton.
We reached out to the community food bank to see if they would step in for students who normally qualify for school lunches a spokesperson said if an outbreak were to happen they would not be able to meet that need.
