TUCSON, Ariz. - Southern Arizona's first mountain bike skills park will be built in Tucson.

It will be located on the east side of Alvernon Way, just north of Golf Links/Aviation Parkway.

REI Tucson and Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists are hosting a volunteer event to kickoff the construction of the park on Saturday, January 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be a press conference with Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and Davis Monthan Air Force Base at 10:00 AM, followed by the volunteer event. Volunteers will be helping clear trail corridors, install signage, and continue site cleanup.

All volunteers need to bring water, snacks, sun protection, work gloves, and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and should plan on walking as much as a mile to get to the work site.

For more information about the event visit the REI website.
