Comcast opened a major call center on the northwest side Thursday, meant to provide support to customers, including Spanish-language users via online and social media.

The 100,000 square foot facility, at 4690 N. Oracle Road, will eventually employ 1,100 workers. Comcast has already hired 700 people and has 400 openings. Comcast has pledged to fill at least 15 percent of the jobs with reservists, veterans and their spouses. To apply, visit jobs.comcast.com.

"I want to congratulate Comcast on its new Center of Excellence," said Mayor Jonathan Rothschild. "I'm pleased that city incentives were able to help bring this project to Tucson, along with more than 1,100 jobs it creates. I especially appreciate Comcast's focus on hiring veterans, reservists, and their spouses."
