UPDATE (1:33 p.m.):

In response to the recount results announced this morning, Sheriff Chris Nanos issued the following statement:

"I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the Pima County Elections Department for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism during this election season. Your commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent voting process is commendable and deeply appreciated.

I also want to thank the residents of Pima County for their ongoing support and trust. It is a true honor to serve as your Sheriff once again. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead and work alongside the dedicated members of our department. Together, we are committed to enhancing the safety and well-being
of our community.

In the coming months, we will focus on implementing new ideas and improvements to make our department even more effective and responsive to the needs of our citizens. Your safety and the safety of your loved ones remain our top priority, and we will continue to strive for excellence in our service to you.

Thank you once again to everyone involved. Let us work together to make Pima County a safer and better place for all.

Chris Nanos will continue in his position as Pima County Sheriff after a close race against his opponent Heather Lappin led to a recount.

The results of the recount were announced today in Pima County Superior Court.

The final tally: Nanos with 243, 891 votes and Lappin with 243,410 votes.
