TUCSON, Ariz. — The road up to Mt. Lemmon is closed once again Monday afternoon ahead of a winter weather advisory in the region.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department announced the road closure just before 1 p.m. Monday. A winter weather advisory is in effect for in the Catalina Mountains, with forecasted snowfall between 10 and 18 inches.
Last week ahead of a winter storm, dozens of motorists were stranded up the mountain road overnight, as snow, ice and traffic problems made the Catalina Highway impassable. They stayed overnight at a ranger station in the mountains and returned down the road in the morning with the help of sheriff's deputies.
