A Casa Grande man is facing charges after deputies say he shot his pregnant girlfriend Monday night, authorities say.
Javier Figueroa, 23, is charged with aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons in connection with the incident.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says someone reported a burglary in progress on the 5900 block of Fuchsia Street in Casa Grande at around 8:43 p.m. There, deputies found a 30-year-old pregnant woman with a gunshot wound to the head.
About 20 minutes later, Figueroa drove up to the scene driving the victim's car. Deputies say he appeared to have blood on him.
The woman was transported to the hospital and is currently in a medically induced coma, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. Doctors did successfully deliver her child, two months premature. Officials say the baby is in stable condition.
Investigators say Figueroa could face additional charges.
