TIA moves steady on busy travel day

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest travel times of the year, but travelers flew in and out of Tucson International Airport with relative ease on Sunday.

Some showed up less than an hour before their flights and had plenty of time to spare. That is normal for TIA which is known to be an easy airport to fly through. Some holiday travelers did not have the same luck with other destinations.

"If we were trying to get here from Chicago, I'd be worried," said James Myer. He and his wife are flying back to the Midwest and said the Chicago airport is much worse to fly out of around the holidays.

Travelers to other cities say the same thing.

"Orlando is really difficult, you're there for about two hours before just checking in and going through security," said Carlos Flores.

Another couple arrived in Tucson from Los Angeles on Sunday and say it was hectic.

It is not anything knew to frequent travelers in and out of Tucson, but the main feeling is that Tucson is less of a hastle.

"To get through security and get through everything it's much easier," said Elena Forehand.

One reason some say the traveled today, to spend as much time with family as they could over the weekend.
