PHOENIX (AP) - A brush fire near Sunset Point has forced the closure of a section of Interstate 17 in both directions.
Arizona Department of Transportation officials say northbound lanes of I-17 were closed Wednesday afternoon at Badger Spring road and southbound lanes were closed at State Route 69.
The Sunset Point area is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) north of Black Canyon City.
Interstate 17 is the main route between Phoenix and Flagstaff.
ADOT officials say it's unclear how long the freeway will be shut down near Sunset Point and they're recommending that drivers use alternate routes until the brush fire is extinguished.
