Border Patrol discovered 67 pounds of marijuana concealed in a casket Saturday.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents working at the 80 immigration checkpoint near Tombstone noticed a white hearse approaching that was traveling north.
Agents conducted an immigration vehicle stop at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Hwy 82.
A Border Patrol canine detected an odor coming from the vehicle. Agents conducted a search and unloaded the casket inside, revealing several bricks of marijuana worth over $33K. There were also bags of manure in the casket meant to mask the smell.
The drugs were seized, and a 28-year-old man was arrested for narcotics smuggling.
