SELLS, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) U.S. Customs and Border Protection says an injured 24-year-old Honduran man was found near the border. He told agents he was shot in Mexico days prior.
Border Patrol say the man was found near the border outside of Sells on Tuesday morning. An agent patrolling the area found him lying next to the border road. The man said he was shot in Mexico three days before being found.
Agents say the man had applied two tourniquets while in the desert, and had drug himself under the border fence.
Border Patrol's Search, Trauma and Rescue team, known as BORSTAR, was called in to help. A helicopter with medically trained agents gave him medical care and took him to the hospital.
The Tohono O’odham Police Department is investigating the incident. Agents say the man is at a hospital in the Tucson area.
