TUCSON, Ariz. - The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved Operation Stonegarden funding by a 3-2 vote during a meeting Tuesday.
Operation Stonegarden is a grant given to border counties that helps pay for overtime and equipment in exchange for border security.
The county had, for years, accepted the federal funding, but rejected the nearly $2 million last year.
This year, the Pima County Sheriff's Department re-applied for the funding, hoping for a different outcome than last year's.
