TUCSON, Ariz. -- While many take on new challenges in the new year, one of those is called "Dry January. " That's when people choose to ditch the alcohol, and some see it as an annual tradition.

But while January is almost over, the concept of going sober is not.

Many are embracing the concept called "Sober Curious" or "Abstinence Sampling" which is when you choose to not drink for a time period. This can last for a week, month or however long you choose.

Experts say the break from alcohol can be as long as the person chooses, just make sure to take advantage of the awareness it brings. That awareness may include understanding why someone enjoys an adult beverage.

Addiction experts suggest adding more de-stressers to your life. Meditation, exercise and fun activities that are not centered around booze can help with mindfulness.
