TUCSON, Ariz. — The finalists for Bashas' donut creation contest have been revealed and the results are quite tasty.
Kids and adults were invited to participate in this contest by submitting a donut flavor that is Arizona-inspired.
"Entries ranged from sweet to savory and everything in between, but ultimately, a panel of celebrity judges selected the winning donut in each category based on a 100-word description of the best tasting donut idea, including the proposed name, key ingredients, and why the donut perfectly portrays Arizona," Bashas' said in a statement.
Both winning flavors will be featured at stores across the state beginning Friday, June7.
The first winner unveiled is an eight-year-old from Maricopa named Glory. Her creation is called the "Spiky Cactus". This raspberry-filled donut has green icing and white sprinkles, making it look like a cactus in bloom.
The other finalist is a woman who lives in Chandler named Joanne. Her winning Haboob Creme Filled creation is filled with vanilla pudding and crushed vanilla wafers.
Glory and Joanne will each receive one dozen donuts every month for a year, along with a Bashas' gift card.
