TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - With the shake of a can and the spray of some paint, world-renowned artist Kenny Scharf transforms an ordinary car into a mobile work of art.
"I just think that doing something that takes twenty minutes and then you can change someone's mood for the day and inspire them to get out of the ordinary way of looking at things and thinking about things," said Scharf. "So I hope to inspire that."
Kenny set up shop at Hotel Congress Sunday afternoon and painted six cars for drivers who won a raffle. His first canvas was a 1995 Toyota 4-Runner, and it's driver is looking to get some reaction.
Carlos Ballesteros say's he's been a fan of Kenny's for a long time.
"It's very street, very urban, very unique," said Ballesteros. "There's not too many guys his age still using spray paint so I think that's rad."
Most of Kenny's pieces sell for thousands of dollars, but today those drivers got their own mobile murals absolutely free.
"I love it because I noticed the ones who look at it and react to it the most are children," said Scharf. "Those are the ones that you want to uplift."
