A former government contractor has been convicted of stealing and selling U.S. military equipment from his Arizona home.
The U.S. attorney's office in Arizona says 38-year-old Michael Dale Gilbert, of Young, was found guilty Wednesday of three counts of theft and unauthorized sale of government property.
He also was convicted on one count of interstate transportation of stolen property.
Prosecutors say Gilbert worked for PAE Government Services between 2012 and 2015 and was deployed to Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.
They say in April and December of 2014, Gilbert had computers, construction equipment and other tools sent to his home instead of having them transferred for use elsewhere.
He stole items worth nearly $49,000. He sold some items on eBay and through other means.
He will be sentenced Oct. 9.
