TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Pima County Sheriff's Department is now hiring for new Corrections Officers to join the staff.
The process is only available at pre-determined times throughout the year, according to PCSD. Right now, applications are being accepted from March 15th through March 29th.
Interested candidates will undergo a multiple choice test and physical fitness assessment on April 6th. An anticapted academy will then take place July 15th.
Qualifications for the job include the following:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- At least 18 years of age (at time of appointment)
- Valid Arizona driver's license (at time of hire)
- United States citizen or Alien work permit
- Be of excellent character
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
- If prior Military: Must have been honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces
- No felony convictions
- No unlawful use of a narcotic or dangerous drug within the past three (3) years
- No unlawful use of marijuana within the past year
- No pattern of drug abuse
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
