TUCSON, Ariz. — Anna the Grevy's zebra at Reid Park Zoo is expected to give birth this spring.
According to the announcement made Thursday, it has been 8 years since a zebra gave birth at Tucson's zoo.
Grevy's zebras are currently on the endangered species list, Reid park said in a statement. Their population has decreased by 83 percent over the last 40 years.
"Anna will be a first-time mom, so staff will be monitoring carefully to be sure she tends the foal shortly after birth for important nutrients vital to its health," Reid Park said.
