Former U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick announced Friday she plans to run against Martha McSally in the CD2 seat.
“I’m more determined than ever to stand up for Southern Arizona families and against Trump, McSally and their attacks on our community,” Kirkpatrick said in a statement.
She previously represented Arizona's 1st Congressional District, from 2009 to 2011, and again from 2013 to 2016, when she unsuccessfully ran against Sen. John McCain for a U.S. Senate seat.
She will compete against as many as nine other Democrats for the nomination.
The seat is up for election in 2018. CD2 represents parts of Pima and Cochise Counties.
