TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Arizona Department of Transportation is asking public to send in ideas for eye-catching highway signs.

It's part of their Safety Message contest.

ADOT wants submissions of funny, quirky, silly, and serious safety messages that they can display on signs across the state.

Anyone who is interested can submit their safety message at ADOT's website.

They'll be accepting submission until April 29th.

In the last two contests ADOT has received more than 9,000 safety sign ideas.

There's no limit to the amount of entries one person can submit, but there are a few things that aren't allowed.

ADOT won't accept entries with hashtags, phone numbers, web addresses or emojis.

All messages must fit within a 3 line, 54 character limit and must pertain to public safety.

ADOT officials will select 15 finalists and the public will vote on two winners in May.
