ADOT waives fees for trucks headed to Texas

The Arizona Department of Transportation is doing their part to help needed equipment reach Texas as quickly as possible.

The effort began over the weekend.

The department is waiving fees and expediting permits so commercial vehicles can haul oversize loads.

Trucks hauled 8 emergency generators from a Caterpillar facility in Phoenix.

The generators will provide power for emergency crews.

“Arizona is doing everything it can to help the people who are struggling after this hurricane,” ADOT Director John Halikowski said. “As a transportation agency, we can help get equipment there efficiently and safely.”

The process will be expedited as long as the presidential disaster declaration remains in place.

ADOT may have to change routes if loads are too heavy for some bridges.

The department is working with other states to keep shipments moving to Texas as efficiently as possible.
