A south side neighborhood is asking the city to clean up an illegal dumping situation on Bilby Road and Missiondale.

Concerned neighbors reached out to KGUN9 On Your Side for help.

Sunnyside Neighborhood Association President, Yolanda Herrera says, "This is the worst I have seen it."

This is what people see when they drive down Bilby and Missiondale on the Southside.
This property has been the site of constant illegal dumping.

The pile of trash consisted of mattresses, tires, couches, furniture, and much more hazardous materials.

One neighbor, who didn't want to go on camera, is hoping to get the attention of the city. She says the trash is "absolutely appalling."

The area does routinely get cleaned up but it continues to be a dumping ground. "It's going to bring - rodents, roaches, rattlesnakes and more coyotes - we don't want those in our area," Herrera said.

Roll offs are often scheduled here. "We limit it to one day to eliminate this sort of thing. People ultimately overload the roll-offs."

While in the area KGUN 9 caught a couple illegally dumping branches and dirt.

Herrera says people need to realize that they end up spending more money by illegally dumping because taxpayers pay for the trash to get cleaned up when it's dumped.

Officials are trying to find a solution to block access to this area by working with the city and the property owner.

Environmental services are scheduled to clean up the mess on Friday.
