TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson Police has received 36 replacement ballistic vests from the Tucson Police Foundation.
The new vests will be given to officers who currently have vests that are more than 5 years old.
Vests are not warranted by the manufacturer for more than 5 years.
The Tucson Police Foundation was able to raise the funds over the summer through fundraising events involving TPD officers, sponsors, grant acquisitions, donations from individuals and businesses within the Tucson community.
Since 2011, the Tucson Police Foundation has been able to provide over 400 TPD patrol officers with replacement ballistic vests.
