Tucson Unified School District is kicking off Attendance Awareness month with a national campaign to encourage students to maintain perfect attendance this school year.
The goal for the "Team Up for Attendance" campaign is to show a percentage increase for each school's attendance comparing September 2017 to September 2018.
The winning Tucson Unified high school, middle school, K-8 and elementary schools will be recognized at a future Tucson Unified School District Governing Board meeting.
TUSD will also include a kindergarten components that promotes the importance of attending school every day until graduation.
Each kindergarten class will receive a prize that will help to promote attendance. Tucson Unified kindergarten classes will compete against each other throughout the district.
The winning class will receive a visit from some of TUSD’s finest football players. The Team players will run drills with the students, while reinforcing the importance of being at school every day.
