Flu-ravaged Elfrida Elementary shuts down class until Tuesday

TUCSON, Ariz. - Elfrida Elementary School announced it will suspend classes until Tuesday, Feb. 19, due to a "large number of illnesses."

According to the Cochise County school's Facebook page, flu and cold cases keep spreading among students.

The school is asking children with fevers to stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours.

There are currently 216 reported cases of the flu.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, the age group most affected by the flu right now in Cochise is between five and 18-years-old at 29 percent.

The next age group is split at 25 percent; children four years and younger.

Generally, in Arizona, there are approximately 8,800 confirmed cases of the flu.
