Trico to halt disconnections, late fees

TUCSON, Ariz. - Trico Electric Cooperative says it will cease disconnections and late fees for customers who have trouble paying their bills during the coronavirus outbreak.

In a message to users, Trico said it's asking customers who are struggling to pay to call (520) 744-2944 to work out payment arrangements.

Here is the full text of the message:

Dear Trico Members:

Trico is committed to assisting its members during the public health challenge presented by COVID-19 (coronavirus).

We are aware that this situation is disrupting the lives of our members and causing concern throughout the community. We want to assure you that we are prepared to deal with circumstances as they arise, to continue providing safe and reliable service.

We recognize that some members may have difficulty making payments at this time and we are prepared to work with you to keep your power connected. To help members who find themselves in difficult circumstances, we will not be disconnecting service to members or charging late fees during this health emergency. Please contact Trico at (520) 744-2944 if you cannot pay your bill and we will work with you to provide options to help.

In addition, Trico works with and allocates funding to Wildfire, an organization that provides financial assistance to low-income members in need. If you are having difficulty paying your bill, please go to Trico's website at https://www.trico.coop/help-from-trico/ [trico.coop] for agency information in your area that can help.

We are here to help and to answer your questions. Please contact Trico as soon as possible if you need to make payment arrangements.
