PHOENIX - A female motorcyclist was critically injured after being struck by another motorcyclist near 28th Street and McDowell Saturday evening.

Phoenix Police say the 61-year-old woman was traveling westbound on East McDowell Road when she collided with another motorcyclist.

The Phoenix Fire Department transported the woman to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. She remains in extremely critical condition, according to police. The identity of the woman has not been released by police.

The second motorcyclist, a 56-year-old man, was arrested and processed for a DUI. Police believe impairment played a role in the crash.

A person who witnessed the crash told police they saw a white pick-up truck that "may have been involved in the accident" leave the scene. The pick-up truck driver has not been located. Police are treating this crash as a hit-and-run.
