UPDATE 10:31 a.m. 11/13:
Sierra Vista Police Department released more details on the shelter-in-place situation that took place on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Officers responded to reports of domestic violence in the 1700 block of Knowlton Street at around 6:18 p.m., according to a SVPD news release. Initial information indicated a man had a gun in the house and was threatening the woman in the home and to kill himself.
Officers arrived and were able to secure the woman, who was already outside. They attempted to make contact with the man, but he had barricaded himself inside the house, the news release said. A perimeter was set up and additional resources were called.
A reverse 9-1-1 message was sent to homes in the immediate area to shelter in place, the news release said.
Negotiators were able to contact the man at about 7:17 p.m. Following initial contact, the man came out of the house and surrendered to police.
The man was taken to Canyon Vista Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.
The investigation is ongoing.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office announced they have lifted a shelter-in-place order after assisting the Sierra Vista Police Department with a domestic situation.
CCSO announced one subject is in custody.
