According to SocialMediatoday, every minute of every day, $283,000 is spent on Amazon, Google conducts 5.7 million searches, 167 million videos are watched on TikTok, 452,000 hours are streamed on Netflix and 65,000 photos are shared on Instagram.
With so much happening at such a rapid pace, it's easy to accidentally share a story from a website, or a meme on social media, that's actually fake news. During National News Literacy Week, Good Morning Tucson is sharing ways to identify fake news on websites and social media by fact-checking.
National News Literacy Week is an annual event that underscores the vital role of news literacy in our democracy and provides audiences with the knowledge, tools and abilities to become more news literate. The week is presented by the News Literacy Project and The E.W. Scripps Company.
