Helping out and doing good on 'Giving Tuesday'

December third is all about giving back and doing good for Giving Tuesday this year.

Every year, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people are encouraged to donate time, money, goods or even their voice.

To support the global generosity movement, Facebook is matching up to seven million dollars of donations made on their webpage on to nonprofit organization.

Not sure where to volunteer? The Giving Tuesday website has a list of local organizationsthat need your help, including 272 Tucson organizations.

Throughout last year, more than 1.6 million Arizona residents volunteered.

Their service alone, had an estimated economic value of over 3.8 billion dollars.

Tucson's Giving Tuesday campaign is partnered with KXCI. The radio station is hosting a day-long broadcast to share the stories of local nonprofits. You can see the lineup here.

Giving Tuesday's Facebook page says, "GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world, on December 3, 2019 and every day"

Last year, over 400 million dollars were raised through 3.6 million gifts on Giving Tuesday. The average gift was 105 dollars, according to the organization's webpage.
