TUCSON, Ariz. - Dominic Romero was born on January 4, 1999. He was killed in a hit and run exactly 20 years later.

His family spoke out days after his death. They say they want answers and to find the person responsible for killing their son and fleeing the scene.

Michelle Arbizo, Romero's mother, says he was her youngest child.

"I'm sad that I lost my son but I look back and have nothing but good memories about my son."

A pick up truck hit Romero on Anway Rd, near the intersection of Picture Rocks and Sandario.

She says her son had gone to celebrate his birthday at a friends house and says he may have been walking along the narrow road when the truck hit him.

"You know, he called me right after midnight. Well, it was about 1:30 in the morning and he had called me to tell me that he was going to stay where he was and that he'd see me in the morning."

Abrizo can still remember the last time she heard from her son.

"He said today I turn 21 mom and I want to thank you for giving me life, for making me the man that I am today. I couldn't give you enough thanks even if it meant giving you my life, would not be enough. I love you for making me who I am today. That was the last text he sent me."

PCSD continues investigating and ask anyone with leads to contact them.

A previous version of this story said that Romero was 21 years old when he died.
