Set in a brand new area called the Galar region, aspiring Pokémon trainers will explore countryside environments, snow-covered mountains, and contemporary cities.

"The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here," Director Shigeru Ohmori said.

Similar to past titles, gamers will visit various Gyms in the region to ultimately become the Pokémon champion.

Three new starter Pokémon for trainers to choose from were also revealed.

According to the games' website, Grookey is a grass type Chimp Pokémon full of boundless curioisty, Scorbunny is a fire type Rabbit Pokémon bursting with energy, and Sobble is a timid Water Lizard Pokémon that hides itself.

Both games are scheduled to release in late 2019.
