Next summer, Arizona staycationers and tourists will have a swanky place to stay when "The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Paradise Valley" opens its rooms and pools.
The 215-room hotel and resort is being built in Paradise Valley along Scottsdale Road, between Lincoln Drive and Indian Bend, not far from local restaurants, McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, and Camelback Mountain.

It is expected to open during the summer of 2020, the resort revealed this week, along with updated renderings of what the resort would look like and details about the amenities guests can expect.
"We are thrilled to expand our resort portfolio with The Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Valley and look forward to bringing our legendary service to Scottsdale, a destination that has long been alluring to luxury travelers," said Lisa Holladay, global brand leader for The Ritz-Carlton, in a statement included with the news release.
When it opens, the resort will have 215 rooms, including oversized suites, detached casitas, and bungalows. The main pool is nearly 400-feet long, the resort said, boasting it as one of the longest pools in the country.
The resort will also have a 2,500-square-foot fitness center, a 16,000-square-foot spa with indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, a private pool, and a Vichy shower, which is used in spa treatments.
Plans also call for a "specialty dining concept" that will apparently use ingredients from an herb garden and citrus orchard with 400 trees that will be on the property, according to the release.
Other plans call for indoor and outdoor meeting and event areas, an amphitheater, secret garden, and grand lawn.
The resort is considered to be the "centerpiece" of The Palmeraie, a $2 billion, 122-acre master-planned community that will have villas, single-family houses, and estate homes, a clubhouse, Olympic-sized pool, fitness facilities, and access to hotel amenities.
It will also house "The Palmeraie Shops, " a high-end multi-use center that will offer 200,000-square-feet of retail space for 70 "luxury and specialty boutiques" and restaurants, according to its website. Specific tenants have not yet been announced. The shops are expected to open sometime in 2020.
The only other Ritz-Carlton-branded hotel in the state is the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona, which is just northeast of Tucson.
There used to be a Ritz-Carlton-branded hotel near 24th Street and Camelback Road, according to the Phoenix Business Journal, but it closed in 2015 and was re-branded as The Camby, part of Marriott's Autograph Collection.
