TUCSON, Ariz. — The American Gem Trade Association announced Tuesday that the 2021 GemFair in Tucson has been canceled.
With the rise in COVID cases in Arizona, the decision to cancel the 39th GemFair was out of safety precautions, AGTA organizers say. The Pima County Health Department also declined the application for the GemFair due to the health risks associated with large gatherings.
This follows the recent cancellation of the main Tucson Gem & Mineral Show announced in October.
The AGTA says it is working to discover ways to assist the progress of trade for members and buyers; including virtual events, social media, or online events until in-person events are once again possible.
The 2022 GemFair is scheduled for Feb. 1–6.
