Two wrong-way drivers were arrested for driving under the influence in separate incidents Monday morning.
The first wrong-way driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Loop 101 near Bell Road around 2:40 a.m.
Troopers driving northbound saw the wrong-way driver in a Toyota Tundra. The trooper reportedly had to take evasive action to avoid the wrong-way driver.
ADOT workers at the Traffic Operations Center kept tabs on the driver's location until a traffic stop was made after the driver made it to westbound Northern Avenue from the Loop 101. At that time, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Fortunately, no injuries or crashes occurred during the incident.
The second incident happened just before 3 a.m. along State Route 85 in Buckeye Valley.
The driver was spotted driving northbound in the southbound lanes of SR-85 south of Interstate 10.
A Buckeye Valley Fire Department ambulance driver was able to stop the driver and report the incident to other officials.
The driver was arrested for aggravated DUI.
No injuries or crashes were reported with the second wrong-way incident.
