Prepare your pancakes for stardom: Glittery maple syrup now exists.

Runamok Maple, a premium maple syrup maker based in northern Vermont, is releasing a limited-time Sparkle Syrup that’s available beginning Sept. 1, but you can pre-order now. Be ready to snap it up, because Runamok predicts that it’s sparkly syrup “will disappear like a wizard in a puff of purple smoke.”

An 8.45-ounce bottle of the limited-release syrup costs $16.95.

The makers of the syrup say that the idea for a sparkly syrup came about because, well, we need a win in 2020, dangit!

“Life has been very, very serious lately and it is safe to say that 2020 has left no one unscathed,” the Runamok Maple site says. “And while we can’t fix the big stuff, we can offer this little bit of whimsy to help make everyone smile.”

In case you were wondering, yes, the glitter is edible! A food-safe pearlescent mica was added to the pure maple syrup to give it sparkle status. The sparkles in the syrup are flavorless, so they won’t affect the flavor of the pure maple syrup. But, it’s definitely fun to eat (and photograph)!

So, aside from pancakes, waffles and French toast, what other food can you give the sparkly syrup treatment to? Try slicing up some apples and dipping them in syrup for a perfect fall snack. Or, you can add the syrup to a cocktail or mocktail for a shimmery twist.

If you’re a maple syrup fan or are looking to step up your brunch game, Runamok also makes some other limited-release artisan syrups, too, such as cocoa bean-infused maple syrup and strawberry rose maple syrup.

Love glitter so much you wish it was a food group? You can also buy your own edible glitter online so that you can give everything from donuts to champagne a little extra razzle dazzle.
