Arizona received only about 60% of the expected amount of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses for the week of December 20, according to The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).

In a statement, ADHS says Arizona was supposed to receive 70,200 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, but only were able to order 41,925 doses.

ADHS says they reached out to the CDC for "an explanation for the difference," and have yet to hear back.

As for the Moderna vaccine, the state says 119,400 doses have been allotted to Arizona, and the order has been placed.

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is currently awaiting the official authorization from the FDA and then the CDC's approval.

Moderna's vaccine is expected to arrive between Monday, Dec. 21, and Wednesday, Dec. 23, according to ADHS.

Maricopa County is expected to receive 18,500 Moderna doses while Pima County will receive 17,000 doses in the first delivery.

ADHS also says the CDC Long Term Care Facility/Pharmacy Partnership has been allotted 37,300 Moderna doses. The doses are expected to be available the week of Dec. 20 and the vaccination of residents and staff in the facilities will begin the week of Dec. 27.
