Police have identified 40-year-old Gabriel Escalante as the man killed on Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Pete Dugan with Tucson Police says that officers responded to the 8700 block of East Almond Street for reports of a possible shooting.
Officers arrived and located an adult male on the ground being treated by neighbors.
The victim had obvious signs of gunshot trauma but was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Detectives determined the shooting was not a random act of violence, said Dugan. The victim and suspects knew each other and were involved in a fight near the victim’s home.
During the fight, shots were fired at the victim, and he was struck. The suspects had fled before officers arrived.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
