The Frye Fire burning 7 miles southwest of Safford has burned 45,154 acres.
Stage 2 Fire Restrictions remain in effect until rescinded.
The Coronado National Forest says that the fire remained active Saturday due to low humidity and high temperatures. The flames spread through Pitchford Canyon and over the ridge into Wet Canyon.
A sprinkler system and 5,000 feet of fire line are in place around Turkey Flat to protect nearby structures.
The fire is 45 percent contained.
The following areas are closed due to the Frye Fire: all campgrounds, roadways and trail systems within the Forest boundary in the Pinaleño Mountains range except for State Highway 266 from its intersection at the eastern Forest boundary to its intersection with the western Forest boundary.
The lightning-caused fire started on June 7.
