No major injuries after small aircraft goes down in Waddell

WADDELL, Ariz. (AP) - Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say a pilot is believed to have only minor injuries after a small airplane crashed west of Phoenix.
 
Sheriff's spokesman Chris Hegstrom said Sunday afternoon that deputies were responding to a downed aircraft in Waddell.
 
The crash occurred in the area of Olive Avenue and Sarival Road, which is just east of the Loop 303 freeway.
 
According to Hegstrom, initial reports indicate the pilot only received minor injuries.
 
The pilot was the sole occupant.
 
No other details were given including where the aircraft left from.
 
The crash scene is a little over 5 miles northwest of Luke Air Force Base in Glendale.
