Search and rescue teams from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department were working to help at least 26 people safely exit the canyon. A department spokesman says the group of hikers was stranded on the far side of a bridge leading from the popular Seven Falls and Bear Canyon trails to the parking lot. Deputies say nobody was in danger and a DPS helicopter helped ferry people to safety.
Rain in the area of the Santa Catalina Mountains prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning Sunday afternoon.
