The final border fence panel was installed Tuesday morning completing the replacement of 7.5 miles of out-dated fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border near Arizona's Naco Port of Entry.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, this new fencing will create a greater barrier against illegal crossings and improve awareness of any illicit activities along the border.
Funding for this project was approved in 2016 as part of the fiscal budget. Along with the fencing will come road improvements and more efficient low water crossings which will be completed next month.
