The incident happened in May. According to the department, several inmates got into a fight and officer Bradley Kerby intervened.
After the fight, one of the teens was waiting for medical treatment and allegedly made vulgar comments to the officers. That's when Kerby allegedly hit him several times.
Kerby has since been fired, but the family says that is not enough.
The teen was serving time for robbery. PCSD is conducting its own investigation, and Kerby has been indicted for aggravated assault on the teen.
