A large-scale rescue operation was completed Monday after 17 people became trapped during a flash flood in the Tanque Verde Falls area Sunday evening.
Rescuers brought two men out of the area Monday, completing the rescue effort.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says the group called for help just after 5:30 p.m. As of 4:00 a.m. Monday, rescuers pulled 15 people, including a 4-year-old boy, from the area. At one point, rescuers used a helicopter to lift people to safety.
Pima County Search and Rescue, Rural/Metro Fire District, deputies and volunteers from the Southern Arizona Rescue Association (SARA) aided the efforts.
